Avoiding Technology Ailments

Health Magazine published a helpful article on how to avoid ailments from over-using technology gadgets.

Blackberry Thumb - too much thumb-typing can lead to pain or numbness.
To prevent: several times per day, open your hands very wide spreading your fingers and then make a fist.

Laptop Back - leaning over a laptop puts pressue on the upper and lower spine which can cause pain and tension in your upper back, shoulders and neck.
To prevent: get up and move every 20 minutes. Keep your legs uncrossed, and form a tripod with the chair while seated to maintain better balance.

Shoulder Phone Crunch - bending your head to hold your phone between head and shoulder can cause pain in your neck and back.
To prevent: use a speaker or headset.

These suggestions seem like good common sense. When we "work all the time", a reminder is sometimes helpful to keep us healthy.
